Quick Hit: Some NMM color recipes from Brush Brothers

The guys over at Brush Brothers have a really nice write up on NMM silver and gold. The tut is not really in depth but the recipe is written so it should be easy to understand.

I hate that I have not had time to write my own content but I definitely wanted to share these.

Take a look.

Infinity Table in 30 Mins

So, after browsing the Infinity forums I found a great idea for quick terrain for Infinity. I stole this idea and ran with to see what I could do. In the same fashion as other terrain I am working on, it is incredibly basic. I will detail it later.

Infinity Terrain: Progress Update

Well, school and work has meant that I have extremely limited. I showed you all, in this post, some of the terrain I had started. This is what I have done since. Well, I did all but one of these. They are deliberately simple. The thought behind that? The last time we attempted Infinity, it did not hold. One of the main reason was that we knew the game required different terrain than we had, but we over focused on detailed, multilevel, modular terrain and in no time we were tired of waiting to get terrain done so we could play.
This time around, KISS all the way. Keep it simple stupid! The primary thought is getting a bulk of large LoS blocking terrain and worry about the details later. So now we have the basis of a great table. It is playable, and later it will look great. There are 3 or 4 more pieces not pictured here as I outsourced some work to another location...hehe.

Working Away...Infinity Terrain

So there has been a movement at the local store with Infinity lately. I already own the models so I figured I would join in. We took a stab at this game once before, and the pull to other games as well as the terrain demands pretty much stopped it before it started. This time around, we all have an understanding of what it will take, and we are committed to using what we can until we get some proper terrain made. I played some games last week and we used card storage boxes as terrain. I always enjoy making terrain so I thought I would spend some of the little free time I have and take a stab at it...

Quick Hit..Monkeyman7x's True Metallic Metals

I usually don't do this, but I think this is a really good article on how to do True Metallic Metals. For the most part there are two ways to approach painting metals. True Metallic Metals (TMM) or Non-Metallic Metals (NMM).

Non-Metallic Metal is a process brought over from other art forms where instead of using metallic paint (paint containing small metal flakes), you paint using normal non-metallic paint. NMM is a fairly difficult technique to master and looks fantastic when done correctly, but unfortunately it looks really bad if done poorly.

True Metallic Metals is a process as varied as anything in miniature painting. It can be as simple as a metal base coat, a wash, and then a highlight, to the process in Monkeyman7x's article. As varied as the technique is the results. The results from TMM is not really any better or worse than NMM, both look spectacular when done well, but TMM has the benefit that when used by less skilled painters the results are better,

Anyway, here's the link to the article. I have seen others before, but I think he does a good job of breaking it down into steps that anyone can manage and recreate.
