So I was talking with Brent from Strictly Average last Friday. He was admiring my bases and was curious how mine looked so different than his, although we were using pretty much the same material. So, I figured I would do a walk through on how I do them, and maybe some slight changes you can make to them for different armies.

My Camera Set Up
Well since SAJ seems to be a source for some good ideas, I am doing another post based on one of his questions. He was curious about my set up and how I configure things for photos of minis. After the jump some photos of my set up and an explanation of how and why it is set up that way.

The Problem with Voices in Your Head!
So here's the problem with voices in your head. When they take on form, you lose control of what they say!
Evidently Brent from Strictly Average is having a huge problem with that.
I guess he thought I was not gonna have anything to say once let out upon the world!
I wonder how long it would take to get more followers than him?

What's in the bottle?
SAJ asked here my thoughts about different brands of paints. Let me start off by stating I am in no way any type of expert when it comes to paint and brands. I am simply responding to his question and hopefully you can take something useful away from it.
My modeling tool box has 5 brands of paint in it. There is Games Workshop as well as GW Foundation line, Vallejo Game Color, Vallejo Model Color, and Privateer Press P3 paints. Since both GW paints and both Vallejo paints have some significant differences I count them as separate brands. I will also be talking about what I consider to be the 3 different types of paint in each line. That is Basic, Metallic, and Inks/Washes. None of the lines are equal in value across those types so I can address them separate.

Warhammer Fantasy Build Up: Help from 1000 to 1250
Ok, last winter I ran a build up event at the LGS. Not tooting my own horn but it was a pretty big success. So now with the release of WFB:8th we are doing one for fantasy. This is being hosted by Gauthic. I am working on my Orcs and Goblins for this event, but I am having trouble deciding what to do. I have been playing the following list at 1000 pts and have done "ok" with it. List is after the jump.

Goblin Rock Lobber-Basing
Ok, so I bored you with my post showing (or not showing) how I painted my Goblin Rock Lobber. Let see if I can do a bit better on this one. I actually did shots at every stage so I have already improved.
Alright so I have already painted the lovely models and they are ready for basing.

Goblin Rock Lobber
Well, I have busted my butt today to get this thing painted so I can break open Master Manipulator properly with a hopefully helpful post. Let me give you a bit of back story here. I am the kinda guy who owns lots of stuff, but very little of it is painted/finished. Now, its not because of the lack of ability. I am not that bad with brush and paint. I just have a problem maintaining focus. I also tend to obsess about the details making my projects take longer than necessary, and that is one habit I have been able to over come with this army. I have tried to forgo much layering and just stick to some simple colors that all work well together.
Here is a step by step (sort of) of how I painted by Rock Lobber, after the break of course....

Coming Together
Well I now have the basic formatting set up. I will probably change it later on, but for now this is the look I am going with.
I have just started working on my Goblin Rock Lobber. I plan on doing a WIP post to get past the intro stuff. We will see how this goes.

Up and Running
Ok, so I am finally up and running. I have been debating starting a blog for some time now. Had the url "mastermanipulator" been available it may have happened sooner. I have no idea exactly what I will put here, or how much I will actually use, but time will tell.
